Volunteer Teams both committing to every other weekend to Serve lunch at 2:30 pm on Sunday.
We started with a dozen Volunteers and hot soup on 12-26-2009. We committed to Serving lunch once a month. March of 2010, our Volunteer base grew to be able to Serve every other weekend. By March 2011, we had enough Volunteers to split into Team A and Team B and Serve a full lunch every Sunday.
Team A has some volunteers that have been with PCI since December 2009, as well as volunteers that came to us during the COVID pandemic. There are volunteers who have participated in Serve on each and every Sunday they were scheduled to be there. Certain volunteers arrive and go as their schedules permit.
There are youngsters as young as 6 accompanied by their parents. We also have elderly individuals that are above 90 years old.
PCI strives to deliver hot meals together with complimentary goods such as snacks, sodas, water bottles, cookies, fruits, rolls, desserts, etc. Weekly, at least 11 items are offered in Wilmington, DE.
